Huguette Clark Jewellery Collection to Fetch ‘Millions’
admin | March 15, 2012Heir to a copper, timber and railroad fortune the daughter of former US senator William A. Clark, Huguette M. Clark was one who shunned the social limelight and the obscene amounts of wealth that she was pretty much a part of, to spend time with her doll collection, which was worth millions.
It’s because of this somewhat unwilling nature to be a part of what she was that she gained the nickname ‘the reluctant heiress’. The heiress also chose not spend her days living in the lavish properties her family owned in New York and California instead, choosing to live out her days in hospitals.
After she passed away last year, Huguette Clark left a massive fortune and an abundance of jewellery to a number of different people. The majority of it was donated to charity but she also left significant amounts to her goddaughter, her long-time nurse, her attorney and some of her other employees.
The jewellery that she left is now in the hands off Christie’s fine art auction house. The collection which holds some fine pieces is being sold off and is expected to raise over £6.4 ($10m). The sale is being led by a rather rare 9-carat pink diamond ring. Some pieces in the collection would make beautiful wedding rings for a number of young couples out there who are looking to get married.
She also left an estate which was estimated to be worth over $400m however, she hadn’t been there since 1963 when her mother died. There are now plans to turn her estate into a museum that will house her vast collections of art, musical instruments and books.
All of the wonderful jewellery her collection is bound to have, not many of us will be able to afford to buy any of it, so if you’re looking at getting married anytime soon then you should pay a visit to The Beautiful Company and check out their wide range of different diamond wedding rings.
